President's message

Dear HealthConnect User

In our last several newsletters I have discussed a variety of initiatives underway at HealthConnect and how they will impact our agent and general agent client base. I wanted to use our first 2010 newsletter to bring you up to date on two of these initiatives:

We completed a partnership with The Trizetto Group last year. The Trizetto Group is the largest provider of claims processing and core administrative systems to health insurance carriers in the United States. The goal of the partnership is to offer health carriers complete sales automation solutions that are fully integrated with their core admin system while available to agents and general agents through our multi-carrier portal. We are pleased to announce that after roughly a year of development our first product, Quote2Card, was recently released. Quote2Card allows agents to quote and enroll a case and obtain ID cards for their small group clients automatically. We are also pleased to announce our first client for Quote2Card, SelectHealth of Utah. We are now working on developing Service and Renewals, which will allow agents and general agents to work collaboratively with the carrier and group for maintenance enrollment, billing, commissions, renewals and other service related items.

We have also been working on adding agency management and commission tracking functionality to HealthConnect, so our system can be a single source for agents for managing their entire agency, rather than a “point” solution for quoting and HR. With this new functionality we are also going to be completing a complete overhaul of the “look and feel” of our system and its navigation. We have several clients mid-way through a beta test of the commission system and are finalizing the quote flow re-do of the system. We expect we will be releasing it on a broad scale throughout 2010.

Lastly, I thought it would be helpful to show the growth of HealthConnect’s quoting activity. If you click on this link, you will see that we have grown our quoting activity consistently every year and expect such growth to continue in 2010 and beyond. We wish to thank all of our clients for their continued use of our services, and on behalf of the entire HealthConnect team we look forward to continuing to work with you.

Sincerely,

Peter Everett

Partner spotlight

Partner Spotlight will regularly focus on one of our partners whose services we make available to you through our quoting system and HRConnect.

partner spotlight

We know that carefully selected partners and vendors can and do make all the difference. When selecting our partners for additional services, we think in terms of quality and value that our new partner and their service will provide to our clients.

Since we've had a great success partnering with Choice Care Card (an HRA service provider) on the East Coast, we have decided to extend our partnership to our West Coast clients, beginning in March 2010.

As a result of this partnership, our West Coast clients are now able to take advantage of unparalleled customer service, simpler plan administration and a better value. Choice Care Card is also the only HRA administrator offering substantiation service, which cuts down on the paperwork involved with administering HRA or FSA plans, increasing member satisfaction.

Choice Care Card's HRA calculator and HealthConnect's reporting provide health insurance agents with a great tool for showcasing their clients the financial impact of high deductible plans on their business. All HealthConnect clients now have the capability to load current, renewal and proposed HRA savings right from their quoting portal and take advantage of creating comprehensive and user-friendly plan comparison reports where they can show results for various utilization levels, and display trend analysis. so we heard

From Scott A. Hoover, LUTCF, CLU, CBC of Ira G. Mohler & Son, Inc., Pennsylvania

We are up and running. What a fantastic tool this individual quoting system is. Our website was up and running (and I wasn’t) and we had someone on the site doing quotes before we even knew what we were doing. I’ve since had several meaningful and helpful phone discussions with prospects who I sent online quotes to and it has been truly impressive. Just this afternoon I had my first prospect apply online already.

This is great stuff!!!

Thanks

TriZetto’s QuoteToCard Solution Provides Healthcare Payers With Nation’s Broadest Access to Brokers Who Sell Policies and Streamlines Payers’ Small Group Sales

Sales Automation From Desktop Shortens Closing and Installation
and Frees Brokers to Spend More Time Prospecting

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – March 2010 – The TriZetto Group, Inc. today announced the early availability of its QuoteToCard solution, which offers healthcare payers end-to-end sales automation and proprietary integration to HealthConnect, an individual and small-group multi-payer portal with the nation’s largest community of brokers and general agents. For payers using TriZetto’s QuoteToCard solution, brokers will now be able to generate quotes, install cases, enroll members and print identification cards either directly from the payer’s website or through an online marketplace.

The QuoteToCard solution is available to the 69 payers that use TriZetto’s FacetsTM enterprise administration platform, covering 90 million licensed members. Nearly 7,000 brokers and agents in 19 states employ HealthConnect System’s online portal to generate more than 12,000 individual and small-group quotes per day.

“TriZetto’s QuoteToCard solution provides health plans with the broadest access and easiest connectivity to the channel that sells the most policies: the broker,” said Eric Grossman, TriZetto’s vice president of revenue enablement. “Our offering can decrease the payer’s manual steps for quoting, case set-up, enrollment and renewals by as much as 50 percent and roughly double the return on investment compared to a non-integrated sales automation point solution.”1

“TriZetto’s QuoteToCard solution gives a broker the ability to search, quote, apply and bind health insurance directly from his or her desktop, which can significantly reduce time spent servicing a group and free the broker to focus more on prospecting and selling,” said Peter Everett, chief executive officer of HealthConnect Systems. “Given the solution’s connectivity to almost 7,000 brokers, it also provides the payer with real-time visibility into the sales cycle for much needed competitive intelligence about benefit plan design and pricing.”

Because the QuoteToCard solution can reduce data errors, incorrect effective dates and late member identification cards, the solution can also increase customer satisfaction and retention, added Grossman. In a 2008 study by TriZetto, brokers reported that it took typically 18 to 29 days to close individual and small-group customers. Brokers in that study reported that case installation was their greatest distribution problem.2 Research by The Alan Katz Group and Miller Marketing Insights in 2007 showed that brokers on average spent 63 percent of their time on service and administrative work, rather than focusing on new business.3

TriZetto’s QuoteToCard solution is a component of a larger suite of sales and service automation tools including policy administration, billing/commission capabilities and health insurance connector/exchange administration for health plans and state governments. In May 2009, TriZetto and HealthConnect announced a partnership to develop new products and services that help payers, health insurance brokers and general agents significantly improve the sales and service life cycle.

HealthConnect's dedication to being green pays off in savings

Norwalk, CT - February 2010- Since starting its company-wide green program in October 2008, HealthConnect Systems, has made not only its mark on the environment but also on its savings. The company originally launched its green program to extend the benefits package for their employees and to work together to reduce the carbon footprint required to operate the company to zero.

Through this program, the company would adopt environmentally friendly practices and would compensate employees for doing the same. A year after launching the program, HealthConnect saved over $20,000 despite the costs associated with the program.

"We have received a great response and involvement from the employees when we launched the program," said Peter Everett, HealthConnect President and CEO. "Within the first few weeks of launching the program, a significant number of employees signed up for a program that reduces junk mail, dedicated efforts to recycling and making our offices paperless and overall became creative in reducing their carbon footprint. We have employees taking public transportation, buying energy efficient products and even looking into wind energy for their homes."

The results of the program have been better than expected despite the financial costs to launch the program. The cost of the program included a purchase of two hybrid cars for the company sales team, the financial incentives offered by the company to promote environmentally beneficial behavior changes by its employees in their personal lives (all of which are optional by employees on whether to participate); and from financial contributions by the company and its employees toward greenhouse gas emission reduction projects.

In addition to putting green initiatives into practice, HealthConnect launched a green blog and recently started a quarterly green newsletter. For a chart of savings, click here.
